first, my bebekins needed new slippers, so I crocheted these yesterday and added the little felt owl (or kitty) applique, today. they're made with 100% wool and are so super soft and Nathan just wuvs them! I made the owl/kitty during his nap. i freehanded them and used a blanket stitch to edge them, then sewed them to the tops. the buttons are sewn 5 times to the felt, then once to the whole things, so he should never ever be able to take them off. haha! these babes are easy to crochet.
CH 4, slst to make a circle
CH 3, 10 DC into circle (11 dc)
CH 3, DC into same st, 2 DC into each st around (22 dc)
next three rows: CH 3, 1 DC into each st
CH 3, DC into next 18 st, leaving 4 unworked. CH 3, turn and work 18 DC back and forth until the sole is as long as the baby's foot (I think I did about 5 rows).
seam up the back, then work about 2 round of single crochet around the edge, decreasing at the corners. that's it!
these are his old slippers. as you can probably tell, they're getting rather fuzzy. I didn't treat the wool at all, so that's probably why. oh well, he'll still wear them around the house. i need to find something to attach to the bottom, so they aren't so slippery. my mom suggested that stuff you put in kitchen cabinets to prevent glasses from slipping around...that rubbery stuff. I don't know what else I could use, so I'm going to find some, the next time we go to the grocery store.
lastly, I made an etsy trade last week. I traded my mini robot-hook case for a spoon handle necklace. the case can be seen in my flickr set for "other crochet" here.
this is me and the necklace.
I think it's pretty neat, though I now seem pretty vain. haha hmm, let's combat that--- a nathan picture!
